Resveratrol in the preservation of centrifuged and non-centrifuged cooled goats semen

Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the inclusion of resveratrol in the total goat semen diluent and centrifuged semen submitted to cooling. Four males, adults of the Anglo Nubian breed, submitted to semen collection. After the collection, the ejaculates were submitted to analysis, formation of a pool and fractionated in eight treatments, varying the type of semen processing (centrifuged and total) and four levels of addition of resveratrol (0, 6, 12 and 18mg / 15mL) to the diluent. They proceeded to the cooling and an aliquot of each sample was submitted to the slow heat resistance test (TTR). There was no difference in the
values of sperm motility and sperm vigor of centrifuged goat semen. However, for non-centrifuged semen, there were differences in sperm motility and sperm vigor at 4 ° C using 12 mg resveratrol as antioxidant. It is recommended to use 12mg / 15mL of resveratrol in the non-centrifuged goat semen diluent, cooled to 4 ° C for up to 72h. Centrifugation of goat semen decreases sperm viability based on TTR.
